Elementary Program

Grades 1-6

Lower Elementary, grades 1-3

Lower elementary is a place where individualized learning guides children, ages 6-9, towards greater autonomy and responsibility. A self-paced, hands-on curriculum ignites a love of learning, builds foundational academic skills and encompasses a holistic approach to growth & development. Students grow their curiosities through cultural studies with a “big picture" or cosmic view of the world, hands-on explorations, and form positive peer relationships while cultivating self-awareness, empathy towards others, and problem-solving skills. Our curriculum includes learning experiences beyond the classroom such as field trips, special presentations, and cultural events throughout the year. Learning is personalized, self-paced, and joyful!

“There is a great sense of community within the Montessori classroom, where children of differing ages work together in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competitiveness. There is respect for the environment and for the individuals within it, which comes through experience of freedom within the community."
-Maria Montessori

Upper Elementary, grades 4-6

Upper Elementary students, ages 9-12, dig deeper into their academic work and continue to develop a strong foundation of academic skills, positive peer connections, and problem solving in a group setting that emphasizes compassion and an appreciation for difference. Students embark on collaborative learning projects with their peers, practice research techniques, and continue to organize and manage their work in a guided, supportive environment. Leadership opportunities are embedded in the Upper El experience through student-led initiatives and connections with the broader world continue with cultural studies, special presentations, and field trips.

It’s a place where curiosity and learning make a visible impact on the entire school community!

“Education should be based on the child’s development, not on a fixed curriculum."
-Maria Montessori

"The teachers at Montessori Academy have been nothing short of exceptional! At every age and stage, we found them to be nurturing, dedicated, professional, and genuinely gifted at bringing out the best in each child. They exemplified everything we hoped for in an authentic Montessori experience." - Parent
